IdeasWatch: Ideas published and declined

by Saul Fleischman on August 1, 2012

We want you to know how we decide these things, so, here are answers to questions I get asked (often offline):

Why didn’t my idea appear immediately in IdeasWatch?
They are reviewed by an Admin, each and every one. This could take 1-3 days.

“Aren’t startup ideas needed?”

You declined my idea – but I’m pretty sure it sucks no more than some of the other tripe I see published.

Yes, we are pretty liberal and open-minded. In fact, our founder, Michal, was convinced, early in 2012, to remove the foul language censorship that he launched the site with. However, when there is very, very little in details provided with an idea, or it is clearly duplicit with an idea already launched, we do respectfully decline to publish some many ideas.

I really want to start a new business and want to connect with other people who can offer suggestions and maybe even join my team. Give m some tips for idea submission, please!
You got it!

Here are just an easy top three hints for successful idea launch in IW:

    1. Make the title descriptive, clear, and distinctive.  Here is one that made the cut.  It wont appeal to everyone, but it is original, and well-explained:

"Unseeit," by Mike Simon

  1.  Do a little research before launching your idea.  Search inside and outside IdeasWatch.  If you find very similar businesses on the web or Ideas in IW that your idea could easily be mistaken for, write your Idea description in such a  way as to deonstrate how what you are thinking to build is quite different.
  2. Details on the problem your business idea would solve and also, the values or ideology that your business would build upon will get our attention and also, the other members’ attention.

Lastly, please keep in mind that what we have in IW is not a bulletin board for launched sites, a place to register a startup that has a site already, or an advertising system.  We try to keep it pristine, and this is why we put in the time to review Idea submissions.  We also read ideas, interact with fellow Ideators, and suggest that you do likewise; whether your idea gets approved or not, we hope you will get active on the already published Ideas; there are thousands of Ideators waiting for you to give them advice, and maybe even get on board with them.  This is good way to begin, as well.
