Google+ Stream Tip: Work around to muting a circle

I know Google hasn’t made it possible to mute a certain circle from our main stream yet, so this is a work around that I’ve been using to only show the certain streams I want. I don’t always want to have all my circle’s post showing in my main stream (some groups are just annoying, won’t get into that), so I just want to share how I do I, and maybe you’ll find it useful.

First, you have to create a circle
In my case, I named my circle My Main Stream. This is where you will add the circles you want to see.

Second, you will need to add the circles you want to see in to this new circle.
This will be easy if there are only a few circles you want to show up in your main stream. If not, it will be a little more work.
You have to click on the circle you want. A window will pop up and you’ll want to click on view circle in tab at the bottom left corner of that window.
The circle will open up in the window above. From there, select the more action drop down menu on the top right screen and select select all.
Everyone in that circle will be highlighted. Just click and drag everyone into your new circle.

Third, do that with all the circles you want to show up in your stream, minus the ones you want to mute of course

Now when you are at the main stream, all you have to do is select the new circle you’ve made and you’ll only see the circles you’ve selected.

The only down side to this is if you add anyone new to your circles, you will have to add them to that new circle you’ve made if you want them to show up.However, if and when Google does decide to allow us to mute certain circles, we can simply just delete that circle we just made and it won’t affect any of our old circles.

Actually, we have been able to mute a circle or several of them with some other control possibilities, for quite a while now. You can subscribe to a circle and get notifications or even emails when someone from that circle posts.
