Whose suggestions for hashtags are better?
Let’s consider the hashtags that the Educators Technology article provides.
They most likely are the best – for the year. No argument. Fine, but hashtags trend and also untrend rapidly. In RiteTag, Reports are updated far more frequently, so the results Ritetag would provide, for a report ordered for “education.” If you want more eyes on your posts, tweets, ebay offers… you want tags that are “in play,” rather than the best for the year.

To do this, a hashtag that was widely used several months ago but it no longer used is less likely to be searched. Using hashtags that are relevant to your content and also currently hot puts your content in front of more eyes. RiteTag results are more timely. We also keep adding features to RiteTag while also focusing mainly on refining the RiteScore, our search algorithm. Many will look odd, but they are getting used with “education” posts – now.
Also, what about Google+?
Further, what about the other seven social networks that RiteTag let’s you select for finding hashtags related to your query?
If you order a report for education and select Twitter and Google+ (and perhaps other social networks that you share on), you will find that some of the suggested tags are good for two or more networks, but most are different. This helps you tag your updates/content that you intend to share to different networks – differently.
By the way, if you order such a report – say, for Twitter and googleplus, for “education,” when it reaches 100%, why not save to “public” library, and then, grab the URL, and share it?
I’ll go first. Here is the report I ordered, thinking to share it with people who recently asked about how to hashtag their promotional updates regarding Coursera and Udemy courses: “onlineeducation” report – you don’t even need to register or sign in to RiteTag to use it.
While others will order the report differently, and select other networks to get tag suggestions for, here is my public RiteTag report for “education.”
How do I share RiteTag reports?
- Order some, and even before they reach 100% completion, you can begin using the data. It will not be complete, but when you see any percentage of completion on a report, click on the report cover page from the Queue section (top) of your Dashboard.
- When each report reaches 100% completion, a button appears, allowing you to move the report from “Queue,” in your dashboard, to public or private.
- If you make them public, grab the URL from the URL box at the top of your browser, and give it away like candy.
Public RiteTag Reports are accessible by anyone – whether they register for RiteTag or not. People would need to register (free) only to save content to Collections, save Tag Sets, and to order their own reports.
Having studied a report or two, you will want to save the hashtags you think you will use again and again:
- Study content, accounts sharing tags, when they are sharing them, and click boxes beside selected hashtags within a report.
- Click Save as a set at the bottom
- Name the Tag Set, and you will find them later in your top-menu bar “Tag Sets” page.
- Create a Tag Set from any Report, public or private. Rename, delete and (coming – but not really very soon), share Tag Sets

In time, we aim to make those report titles look a little prettier. There were, as of the writing of this article, no hashtags related to the term “techstartups” in SlideShare. In fact, since SlideShare takes multi-word tagging, I should have probably ordered a separate report for “tech startups” and selected just SlideShare for the network to search.
